Over the weekend, I walked up onto the eastern half of the Mantoloking bridge, specifically along the south side. It was a calm, clear morning, and I was rather surprised by what I saw when I looked down. The water was quite clear, and quite shallow. It is hard to estimate water depth from that height, but I would be very cautious when taking your boat through the Mantoloking bridge, especially the eastern half (the shallow water extends roughly two thirds of the way from the eastern shore to the channel/draw). The worst parts do appear to be closest to the east side, even though this area was dredged after Sandy. When in doubt, go slowly, keep a good lookout, and use abundant caution!
