Today (Thursday), the home at 1025 Ocean Avenue, Mantoloking was demolished. Locally, this home was known to some as the “Katharine Hepburn” house, because she apparently stayed there many years ago. To many, this was one of the few remain “landmarks” that stood as a reminder of the destruction of Superstorm Sandy. The home was built in 1950, and stood, largely untouched, until October 29, 2012. As you may know, it was located just south of Lyman Street on the ocean. It was one of the last remain “Sandy damaged” homes that was still standing, and had quite a history.
