Robert Mainberger, Mantoloking’s borough engineer, provided the following update regarding the Army Corps beach replenishment project, at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
1) Contract will be put out to bid on January 26, 2015.
2) Bids should be received in late February or early March.
3) The Army Corps typically takes about a month to process the bids and award the contract – probably sometime in April.
4) It is likely to take about 30 days for the contractor to get started – probably sometime in May.
5) The contract allows 600 days to complete the stretch from the north end of Island Beach State Park to Manasquan Inlet.
The Army Corps contract does not dictate a starting point, so there is no way of predicting when a particular town will receive replenishment. The work is expected to proceed in a linear fashion, with 1,000 feet of beach being closed at a time. I will post more information as it becomes available.
