Superstorm Sandy destroyed much of the infrastructure in our area, including most utilities, as well as the phone lines. As you probably already know, after Superstorm Sandy, Verizon opted not to restore landline phone service to Mantoloking and many other affected areas. The alternative wireless service that they offer instead has been found to be less reliable, and is also not compatible with many medical devices, alarm systems, and other technologies, which typically rely on landlines.
